This is by far one of the best shorts I’ve seen in a very long time. Not only does it capture the essence of pubescent teens, it makes me wish my poetry skills were so avant-garde at the age of 14, hell, I wish they were that good now.

In early spring of this year, John Holland, Jack Donoghue, and a visibly pregnant Heather Marlatt took the stage at Santo’s Party House to play a thundering, cataclysmic set of songs from their celebrated SALEM LP King Night, submerged in a blinding fog designed by Thunder Horse Video. Their set climaxed with an ethereal and slow-burning cover of Alice Deejay’s radio rave anthem “Better Off Alone” that later took on a life of its own online, with message board trolls and last.fm stalkers harassing friends and fans like yours truly, begging for an mp3. Twenty hours ago, SALEM premiered their home-baked video for the song, which will appear on a new EP from IAMSOUND on November 22nd, grimly titled I’m Still in the Night. Check out the cover art above, and see the video, featuring paparazzi footage of supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Part Ace of Base and part Stacey Q—with the dramatic delivery of a Disney star gone Wiccan—Charli XCX’s video for her single is reminiscent of what might happen if Selena Gomez crawled into a VCR and died. Experience the analog day-glo poltergeist that is!

It’s been about a year and a half since I last layed some tracks down my readers, that being said, a lot has gone down since i released my last mix, and I feel that it’s reflected in the track selections. For this one, I decided to braise a little bit of soul, and a pinch of funk in a classic hip-hop stock. I hope your ears enjoy the souds of Souvenir.

MUJI rarely goes wrong, and for that very reason I’m extremely curious how we’ll these suitcases will stand up to the tests of travel. While they don’t meet FAA carry on guidelines (45 linear inches is the maximum), they do look durable and are much more affordable than some other similarly attractive hard-cases.

Seeing as there were Christmas trees at the local plant nursery this weekend (crazy), I suppose it’s not too early to lock in your order of a 2012 Stendig Calendar. Christmas trees aside, these classic calendars are produced in limited numbers, so if you’ve your eye on one for 2012, you’d do well to get it sooner rather than later.

I’ve seen plenty of celebrity-themed goods timed to coincide with an anniversary related to the celebrity themselves, but never a company co-opting a celebrity for an anniversary of their own. Until now. The Barbour Steve McQueen Collection ($TBA) was created to honor the 75th anniversary of the International motorcycle jacket, which McQueen was known to wear, and encompasses a wide variety of torso covers, including graphic tees, button-downs, cardigans, zip-throughs and jackets, all of which sport a slightly distressed, worn look that only adds to their caché.

Angered and frustrated by the sudden infatuation and commercialization of the graffiti movement, French street artist Kidult has taken to the streets of Paris in an effort to reclaim his craft. In a retaliation against major luxury labels, Kidult has tagged a string of stores in recent months that include: Colette, Agnés B., JC/DC, Supreme, and most recently Hermes.

It’s been some time since I previewed Michael Chang’s new magazine, Lucky Peach, under the McSweeny’s flag. Issue one is now available online and at better magazine/bookshops nationwide.

As mentioned, “The James Beard Award winning chef has partnered with writer Peter Meehan, and Zero Point Zero Production (who make Anthony Bourdain’s TV show) on the venture…” What you find inside is a strong mix of travelogues, art, photography, and rants “in a full-color, meticulously designed format. Recipes will defy the tired ingredients-and-numbered-steps formula. They’ll be laid out sensibly, inspired by the thought process that went into developing them.” Amazon has it.

More from the Oliberte line of footwear. Their latest addition comes in the form of the Mogado deck shoes. “The Mogado deck shoe is replete with hand stitching from toecap to heel adding detail to the premium pull up leather upper. While similar to the traditional deck shoe, Oliberté’s signature recycled crepe outsole provides extra comfort, structure and flexibility.”
